The Mayor and her Consort presenting the awards.
Finally after 2 years Pavements Security officer Andrew Cotton and a Police officer were given their Royal Humane Society Awards for saving a mans life in Chesterfield town centre in 2019. Andy Cotton said: “I responded to an emergency radio message, sought out the man and started CPR until paramedics arrived. It was a difficult situation, but I wanted to make sure he got the medical help he needed”.
For their actions on that day, Andy has been awarded two Royal Humane Society awards, one recognises his bravery in the saving of human life and both for effecting a successful resuscitation and saving the man’s life.
The Royal Humane Society Award is a great honour and Andy’s manager nominated him and the Police Officer for these awards.
The event was held at Massarella’s coffee shop.
